J&K Government Dismisses Teacher for Anti-National Activities

SRINAGAR : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has invoked Article 311 of the Constitution of India to dismiss Mr. Manzoor Ahmed Laway, a teacher in the Education Department, for his involvement in anti-national activities.

Mr. Laway, residing in Manzgam, DH Pora, District Kulgam, was found to be engaged in activities detrimental to the interests of the state, including links to terrorism. Law enforcement and intelligence agencies had flagged his activities, leading to his dismissal.

The dismissal follows Mr. Laway’s involvement in two FIRs registered at Police Station DH Pora, Kulgam. In one incident on 09.07.2016, he was among the instigators of a mob that vandalized and looted Government property, including arms and ammunition from a police station, setting it on fire. On 10.09.2016, he led another unruly mob that attacked police and security forces with stones and firearms.

As a teacher, Mr. Laway had a responsibility to guide students away from activities endangering state security. However, his involvement in promoting secessionism among students undermined this role.

The government’s action underscores its zero-tolerance policy towards anti-national elements exploiting positions in government service. This latest dismissal adds to the 56 government officials previously dismissed under Article 311, signaling a firm stance against threats to national security.
