Government Official Accused of Rape in Ramban District

A government official, identified as Yawar Amin, employed in the Public Works Department and currently serving as an assistant engineer in Samagra Shiksha Ramban, has been accused of rape in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district. The allegation stems from a complaint lodged by the official’s domestic help, an 18-year-old girl.
According to the complaint filed at Banihal Police Station, the victim stated that the accused assaulted her when she was alone at his residence, after his wife had departed for Jammu. The victim recounted that Amin purportedly administered medication to her when she fell ill in the evening, subsequently perpetrating the assault.
The victim further asserted that upon informing Amin’s wife about the incident upon her return from Jammu, she was allegedly expelled from the premises. The accused, Yawar Amin, is currently evading arrest, and law enforcement authorities are actively pursuing his apprehension.
In response to the complaint, law enforcement has initiated legal proceedings, registering a case against Amin under pertinent sections of the law, including those pertaining to rape. Additionally, medical examinations have been conducted on the victim as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case underscores the gravity of crimes against women and the imperative for swift and effective legal action to ensure justice for the victims. Authorities are urged to expedite the investigation and apprehend the accused to uphold the principles of justice and ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
