Deadly Militant Attack Rocks Srinagar: One Killed, Another Injured

SRINAGAR: Tragedy struck the heart of Srinagar this evening as suspected militants unleashed gunfire, claiming the life of a non-local individual and leaving another injured in the old city area.

According to the police, the militants opened fire on two individuals in the Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar. Amritpal Singh, hailing from Amritsar, tragically lost his life on the spot, while Rohit Mashi, also from Punjab, sustained serious injuries. Rohit has been swiftly transferred to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar for urgent medical attention.

In response to the attack, security forces have cordoned off the affected area, intensifying efforts to track down the perpetrators and restore calm to the shaken community.

The incident underscores the persistent threat posed by militant activities in the region, as innocent lives continue to be caught in the crossfire of violence. Authorities are urging vigilance and cooperation from residents as they work to maintain peace and security in Srinagar and beyond.
