Chadoora residents protest against installation of smart meters

Srinagar, 6 March (PTK) Residents of Hamdania Colony, Kralapara Chadoora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, on Monday protested against the installation of smart meters in the area.

Reports said that a large number of womens gathered on the main road and raised slogans against the installation of smart meters in the area.

The protestors blocked the Srinagar to Charar Sharif road at Kralapora and the traffic was blocked for hours causing inconvenience to the commuters.

The protestors said that we belong to the middle class and we cannot pay for the meters.”It is not easy for us to pay the current bills and how will we be able to pay the huge bills.” a protester said.

Protesting residents have urged Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to review the decision to install smart meters in the area.

“If our demand is not met, we will continue our protest.” a protestor said.

Meanwhile an official said that the meters are installed all over Kashmir and it is a government law and we have to implement it, adding that we will complete the remaining areas in days. (PTK)
