National Sports Day celebrated at Poonch
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR POONCH, AUGUST 29: National sports Day 2022 was celebrated across eleven zones of border district Poonch by organising different games involving 9244 students by the District Youth Services and Sports Department.
District Development Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet was the chief guest at the main function organised in Sports Stadium Poonch, Competitions in Hockey Volleyball, Handball, Boxing, Cricket and Taekwondo were held on the occasion.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of the games and sports and threw light on the life of Major Dayan Chand. He said that the Day is celebrated on this date to pay tribute to the Hockey legend Dhayan Chand on his birth anniversary. He advised the players to actively participate in sports and bring laurels to the Country.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner presented mementos and trophies to the winner and runner up teams.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Poonch, Mohammad Qasim presented the vote of thanks.
