Police arrests 04 drug peddlers in Handwara; Contraband substances recovered
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR HANDWARA July 27: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 04 drug peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Police party of Police Station Vilgam at a checkpoint established at Champora Crossing intercepted 03 persons in suspicious condition. On search, 80 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Waseem Ahmad Mochi son of Ab Razak resident of Kralpora Khargund, Mohd Sultan Hajam son of Gh Qadir resident of Sherkoot and Talib Ahmad Sheikh son of Farooq Ahmad resident of Amargad. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Meanwhile in another action, a police party of Police Station Vilgam at a checkpoint established near Dolipora arrested a drug peddler identified as Aijaz Ahmad Mochi son of Ab Khaliq resident of Taratpora. During checking, 70 grams of charas like substance were recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Vilgam and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
