Ara Koshipora residents stage protest against PDD over erratic power supply.

Press Trust of Kashmir| Anantnag: The residents of Ara-Koshipora in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday staged a protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) over the erratic power supply.
Shouting anti-PDD slogans, the protesters blocked the Kokernag road, disrupting the traffic movement.
Locals told our Correspondent of Press Trust of Kashmir that they have been suffering for due to the unscheduled power cuts. “At a time when the power department claims to provide better power supply in winters but the electricity in our areas remains off for maximum hours,” they said.
Locals said that no schedule has been framed for power cuts by the PDD. “They snap it whenever they find it good,” he said.
Residents said though the matter was brought into the notice of concerned authorities a number of times but nothing has been done so far.
Meanwhile, in this regard, our correspondent contacted the A.E.E. P.D.D, Fayaz Ahmad Shah, who said that overloading was the main cause of frequent power cuts. He added that people used heaters, boilers, geysers, and other heavy power consumption equipments resulting in snapping of power supply due to overloading.He also said within a week residents get scheduled power supply we are on toes and work hard that recieving station at Ara Koshipora will be functional soon he added;
