Higher reaches of Valley witness Fresh Snowfall

Srinagar, 05 Nov (PTK) : The higher reaches of Kashmir valley including famous ski resort Gulmarg,Sonmarg and gurez received a fresh spell of snowfall while plains recieved rains on friday , resulting in chilly weather conditions.

 

According to press trust of Kashmir (PTK) that gulmarg in north Kashmir, received over 2 inches of fresh snow, resulting in further dip in the day temperature. Kongdori and Apharwat, the highest point of the cable car project in Gulmarg, also received moderate snowfall.

 

Gurez valley’s Razdan top has received at least 9 inches of snow, Bagtore and Tulail recieved 5 inches of snow since late night, resulting in closure to the Bandipora-Gurez road.

 

However plain areas of the Kashmir valley also received light to moderate rainfall since early morning.

 

An official from Metrological department Srinagar told Press Trust Of Kashmir (PTK) that the fresh snowfall in the upper reaches occurs due to an active Western Disturbance, which causes changes in weather,this weather system will remain for next 24 hours while there will be snow in higher reaches and rains in plains of Kashmir valley.

 

Earlier the local MeT department predicted that light snow or rainfall would commence at a few places of Kashmir valley on friday, however there is no forecast of major snowfall and Weather is expected to improve from tomorrow onwards , he adds.(PTK)
