District President of Congress party Omar Jan demands compensation to snow affected orchardists, farmers 

Srinagar, 23 Oct (PTK): The District President of congress party of Pulwama, Omar Jan has expressed concern over the losses caused to crops and apple orchards of across the Kashmir division due to early snowfall and incessant rains and urged the J&K UT administration to provide immediate compensation to the affected orchardists and farmers of Pulwama district .

While talking to press trust of Kashmir (PTK) the district President Omar Jan said that the early snowfall, gusty winds and incessant rains has increased the woes of people especially the farmers and orchardists of Pulwama district.

The incessant snowfall has played havoc with the standing crops adding to the miseries of marginalized farmers. The orchardists too have suffered immensely due to the untimely snowfall, he adds.

He impressed upon the District administration to depute revenue teams to accesses the losses of the farmers, adding that The farmers should be compensated adequately before the onset of harsh winters.

He also urged the LG led administration for a special financial package to snow affected farmers, orchardists who have suffered huge losses due to heavy rains and early snowfall. (PTK)
