Covid lockdown:1041 violators fined, 98 FIRs registered & 232 arrested.
Press trust of kashmir| Srinagar |Covid lockdown: Continuing its efforts to curb the outbreak of the 2nd wave of Coronavirus, J&K Police have enhanced its efforts to sensitise the masses about controlling the highly contagious Coronavirus. Police have also enhanced the efforts to implement the Covid-19 guidelines/SOPs/restrictions strictly throughout the valley and slew of measures including restrictions u/s 144 have been put into place to contain the spread of Covid-19.

During the last 24hrs, Police has arrested 232 persons, lodged 98 FIRs and also realized fine to the tune of ₹1,49,280/- from 1041 people for violating the guidelines/rules throughout Kashmir valley. Besides, 111 vehicles were also seized in Shopian, Kulgam, Budgam and Bandipora for violating guidelines/restrictions.

The special drive against the violators of Covid-19 guidelines/rules continued throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley to ensure that people adhere to SOPs/ guidelines envisaged by government to curb COVID-19 pandemic.

Community members are once again requested to cooperate with the Police in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs/ guidelines/ protocols for the safety of the people. The special drive shall continue throughout the districts of Kashmir Valley to strengthen the safety measures.
In the last 24 hours, 3969 new infections have been detected in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Of this, 2594 patients are from Kashmir division. 62 people have also died from the infection. Among those who died, 39 people are from the Jammu division. The good news is that 4338 patients have returned home after recovering. Of the 62 deaths recorded today.
On the other hand, the government has already started preparations to fight a possible third wave of Corona. The government has set up a high-level committee that will prepare an action plan for the third wave, including the strengthening of the health structure.
Meanwhile, the appointment of 13500 posts has been approved for the smooth functioning of the two 500-bed hospitals to be built in collaboration with DRDO in the state.
The committee set up to deal with the third wave will formulate an action plan to strengthen the health infrastructure as well as increase testing capacity, availability of essential medicines and facilities, availability of machinery and equipment, supply of oxygen and manpower.
Covid will work on setting up a critical care unit (CCU) for children and newborns, besides increasing the capacity of beds in hospitals. Apart from this, we will also look towards increasing health facilities in rural areas.
The government has also appointed Dr. Shakti Gupta, executive director of AIIMS Jammu in the fight with the third wave, making him the co-chairman of the committee, while Dr. MS Khuru, the former director of Skims Soura Srinagar, has been made the chairman. (PTK)
