Schools re-open across kashmir after several months
Srinagar September 21 (PTK) The schools across the union territory of J&K have re-openes on Monday, however, the attendance of the students has been kept on a voluntary basis.
The schools in Jammu and Kashmir have been shut since March 2020 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent nation-wide lockdown which was announced due to the rising cases of COVID-19 across the country.
Authorities have also stated that the schools have been asked to re open with 50 percent attendance of staff and students and the attendance of the students will be as per the written consent of the parents.
The officials have also stated that all the SOPs will be in place when the schools reopen after such a long gap.
Until class 8 only 50 percent of the staff will report every day while the class 9, 10 11, and 12 students can come to school on a voluntary basis with 50 percent attendance.
The officials have stated that the parents can decide whether they will allow their children to attend the classes. The authorities have further stated that online classes and digital education activities will continue as usual.
With the nation slowly opening up, some of the state governments have announced the re-opening if the schools in the states with 50 percent staff capacity and the attendance of class 9 to 12 students on a voluntary basis in case they wish to clear any doubts with regard to their curriculum. Schools will be following all the safety guidelines issued by the respective state and central government.
Social distancing will be practiced while the students and teachers will be required to wear masks all the time as per the guidelines. The Standard Operating Procedures will help the students and teachers with respect to the conduct of classes and the safety measures.
According to PTK, However at most of the places sources said that several students attended classes and social distancing and other SoPs were not followed.
The reopening of schools at a time when Covid cases are surging day by day has is putting question mark on the government.(PTK)
