SRINAGAR  MAY (PTK) 21 cops posted in Kulgam district along with with a medical intern and two pregnant ladies are among 59 persons who were tested positive for novel coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, taking tally of total cases in the Union Territory to 1449

Officials said that among new cases were detected in Jammu and Kashmir, 14 were tested positive at SKIMS, 33 at CD hospital, 6 at Lal Path Srinagar, 4 at JVC Bemina and 2 at Army’s command hospital Srinagar.

Among 59 new cases, 51 belong to Kashmir division while as 08 are from Jammu division.

With this, the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached to 1238 including 615 recoveries and 18 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division has reached to 211 including 69 recoveries and 2 deaths.

They added that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 754 including 605 from Kashmir division and 140 from Jammu division.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 12 from Anantnag, 21 from Kulgam,5 from Srinagar, 4 from Budgam 7 from Kupwara and 2 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 8 from Jammu including 1 from Jammu district, three each from Ramban and Kuthua and one from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.

Dr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for Covid-19 at SKIMS said that out of 1900 samples tested on Thursday, 14 were found positive including 07 from Kupwara, 03 from Kulgam and 02 each from Ganderbal and Kulgam.

He added that 10220 samples are still pending at SKIMS which are yet to be tested

Dr Salim Khan Nodal officer for covid-19 at GMC Srinagar said that out of over 701 samples tested at CD hospital, 33 were found positive while as reports of 200 samples are under process and over 300 samples were received at the lab on Thursday.

He further added that 31 new cases include 21 cops posted in Kulgam, 10 persons from Anantnag including two pregnant ladies, a medical intern(doctor) from Psychiatry section of SMHS, who was staying at GMC Srinagar Hostel campus Bemina and one from Kulgam

He further added patients from Anantnag include two pregnant ladies 25 year old from Satri Madaan and 27 year old from Khundroo Anantnag besides 04,45 and 49 year old males and 42 and 44 year old females from Ukjan Anantnag.

Officials from JVC Bemina said that samples were tested at the hospital on Thursday, among them 4 were positive including 3 males and one female

Two males are from Soibug, one male from Naru and female from Loolipora area of Budgam, they said adding that one more major operation on covid-19 positive pregnant patient from Anantnag was performed and both mother and child are stable.

Officials said that 6 cases were also tested positive whose samples were taken at Lal Path Lab which includes one each patient from Jhajar Haryana, Jodhpur Rajasthan, Dyala, Mithi Jagir kuthua, Kishtiwar and one from Anantnag.

Meanwhile two more persons died in Jammu and Kashmir due to covid-19 including 70 year old lady from Parisabad Budgam and 80 year old lady from Bemina Srinagar taking the death toll in J&K to 20 including 18 from Kashmir division and 2 from Jammu division.

Dr Salim Khan Nodal officer for covid-19 at GMC Srinagar said that a 70 year old female from Parisabad, Budgam who was initially admitted in SMHS Hospital on 15th May, tested positive for COVID and shifted to CD Hospital Srinagar on 18th May dies at CD hospital on Thursday.

She was admitted as a case of COPD with restrictive lung disease and COVID pneumonia and she died in ICU of CD Hospital after sudden cardiac arrest, he added

He further added that a 80 year old lady from Usmania colony Bemina Srinagar who died at SMHS on Wednesday was tested positive for covid-19 on Thursday.

He said that she was admitted with bilateral pneumonia and hypertension on 19 May and was kept in isolation ward where she died on Thursday, he said, adding that her body was kept in GMC Srinagar mortuary and her reports came positive for covid-19 on Thursday.

Pertinently Srinagar district has reported six deaths, highest in any district followed by Baramulla 4, Anantnag 4, Budgam 2 while one death each has been reported in Bandipora, Kulgam, Udhampur, and Jammu.

As per officials figures 264 positive cases including four deaths and 89 recoveries are from Anantnag, 174 including six deaths and 97 recoveries are from Srinagar, 192 including one death and 10 recoveries are from Kulgam, 137 including one death and 128 recoveries are from Bandipora, 129 including 91 recoveries and four deaths are from Baramulla, 109 including 98 recoveries are from Shopian, 125 including 48 recoveries are from Kupwara, 62 including 30 recoveries and one death are from Budgam, 27 including 15 recoveries are from Ganderbal and 19 including 9 recoveries are from Pulwama.

In Jammu division, 68 including 31 recoveries and one death are from Jammu district , 40 including 04 recoveries arefrom Kathua, 33 including 01 death and 21 recoveries are from Udhampur, 30 including 01 recovery is from Ramban, 16 including 10 recoveries from Samba, 08 including 04 recoveries from Rajouri, 04 each from Poonch and Reasi with 01 recovery in Reasi, 07 from Kishtwar including 01 recovery and 01 from Doda.

As per the daily information bulletin 125,866 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 33,586 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 745 persons are in hospital isolation while as 57 persons are under hospital quarantine.

According to the bulletin, 69,565 persons have completed surveillance period and 21,893 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 107,108 samples are available.

Out of 107,108 the number of samples tested negative stands at 105,659 while as 1449 have been tested positive, among them 755 are active and 684 persons have recovered and 20 persons have died.(PTK)
