ACB Traps and arrests Rajinder Kumar, Executive Engineer and Mohd Farooq Ahmad, Account officer of SAMAGRA (Education Division, SSA/RMSA, Div III-IV) Jammu red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 45,000: Searches Conducted
ACB received a complaint regarding alleged demand of bribe by Rajinder Kumar, Executive Engineer and Mohd Farooq Ahmad, Accounts Officer of SAMAGRA (Education Division, SSA/RMSA, Div III-IV) Jammu for release of long pending bills.
2. The Complainant in his complaint alleged that the company of the complainant had carried out partial construction work. He had received payment of Rs. 29.97 lakh in February, 2020. After completion of some more work, bills worth Rs. 15 lakhs were raised by the complainant. The accused officials withheld payment on the ground that their share in respect of the earlier payment has not been paid in terms of 2% and 1.5% respectively as such 45000/- was demanded for the release of the new bill.
3. On receipt of complaint at Anti Corruption Bureau, Case FIR No. 05/20 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act r/w 120B IPC at PS ACB Jammu was registered against the accused public servants namely Rajinder Kumar, Executive Engineer and Mohd Farooq Ahmad, Accounts officer of SAMAGRA (Education Division, SSA/RMSA, Div III-IV), Jammu.
4. Subsequently, ACB trap team was constituted. The independent witnesses accompanied the trap teams. The team so constituted laid a successful trap and Rajinder Kumar, Executive Engineer and Mohd Farooq Ahmad, Accounts Officer were caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 45000/-. Both of them were arrested and taken into custody. Searches were also conducted at the residences of both the accused public servants.
