Says total redemption of situation in J&K not possible unless all incarcerated leaders, political activists are released without any delay
Srinagar, Mar 16 (PTK): Jammu and Kashmir national conference on Monday said the prolonged incarceration of party’s women wing leader, former three time legislature Shameema Firdous debunks the claims of present ruling dispensation on women empowerment and emancipation.
While expressing concern over the deteriorating health condition of party’s prominent women leader, and former three times legislature provincial secretary Showkat Mir said, “It is heart wrenching to see one of our outstanding women leaders facing oddments in face of her prolonged incarceration. She has not been keeping well owing to her continuous confinement for past seven months. A person of her standing who has served on various key positions should not have received such awful treatment. She has been lending voice to the people of her constituency. A name to reckon with her contribution towards democracy has been immense. To ensure the total redemption of J&k all the incarcerated leaders, political activists lodged in their houses or outside should be released without any delay.”
He said that Shameema a known figure in Srinagar has been raising the issues of the people of Srinagar. “She is a known figure in Srinagar, someone who has given voice to the people of Srinagar. Her good work towards urban development, women empowerment speaks volumes. Regrettably, she is under house confinement for previous seven months; it is indeed painful to see a people’s leader facing such oddments. Having her inside house detention is a great disservice to the people of Srinagar for whom she used to work tirelessly. I urge the government to release here without delay.” (PTK)
