Political Parties announce list of candidates for Lok Sabha Elections

SRINAGAR, (PTK): Law Minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad will fight Lok Sabha election from Patna Sahib seat in Bihar. The seat is currently represented by rebel BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha.

Former Prime Minister and senior JD (S) leader H D Deve Gowda will contest from Tumkur Parliamentary seat in Karnataka while former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti will fight from Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.

The NDA alliance in Bihar today announced a list of 39 candidates of the total 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Besides Ravi Shankar Prasad, his ministerial colleagues, Radha Mohan Singh, Ram Kripal Yadav, Ashwani Kumar Choubey and RK Singh have been given tickets. BJP Bihar in-charge Bhupendra Yadav released the NDA’s list of candidates in Patna.

Union minister Giriraj Singh, whose Nawada seat has gone to the LJP, is shifted to Begusarai. LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan will not contest from Hajipur constituency. His brother and state LJP President Pashupati Kumar Paras will contest this seat.

The BJP has denied tickets to seven sitting MPs in Bihar. They are Shatrughan Sinha, Hukum Deo Narayan Yadav from Madhubani, Satish Chandra Dubey from Valmikinagar, Janak Ram from Gopalganj, Birendra Chaudhary from Jhanjharpur, Om Prakash Yadav from Siwan and Hari Manjhi from Gaya.

As per the pre-poll alliance of the NDA in Bihar, BJP and JD(U) are contesting 17 seats each and Ram Vilas Paswan-led LJP six.

In Goa, sitting BJP MPs from Shripad Naik and Narendra Sawaikar will contest the upcoming general elections. Mr Naik will fight from the North Goa seat and Mr Sawaikar from the South Goa constituency.

The BJP also released another list of 11 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections this evening. The list consists the names of six candidates for Telangana, three for Uttar Pradesh and one each for Kerala and West Bengal.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Digvijaya Singh will contest Lok Sabha elections from Bhopal.

In Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP has decided not to field candidates from two parliamentary seats of Jammu and Udhampur to avoid division of secular vote, thereby supporting Congress.
