LG Sinha hoists National Flag at Lok Bhavan on 80th Independence Day
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 15 (PTK): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday hoisted the National Flag at Lok Bhavan on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day. A ceremonial police contingent presented the National Salute during the ceremony.
Paying homage to the countless freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country, the Lieutenant Governor recalled the difficult journey and immense sacrifices behind India’s independence. He also paid tribute to civilians who lost their lives in natural calamities this year.
“On this historic day, I join all citizens in paying heartfelt tributes to our founding fathers and the valiant sons and daughters of Mother India who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom,” LG Sinha said.
He called upon citizens to uphold the ideals for which the freedom fighters sacrificed their lives and work towards building a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir and a stronger nation.
“The truest tribute we can pay to our martyrs and freedom fighters is to resolve to work with integrity and safeguard our hard-earned freedom,” he added.
Expressing confidence in India’s potential to emerge as a global leader, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for an inclusive society that places public interest at the forefront and extends compassion and support to the underprivileged.
He called for balanced growth and greater economic empowerment of women, while stressing that the empowerment of women and youth, employment generation and environmental sustainability must remain key priorities.
“Our ongoing initiatives, such as revitalizing heritage sites, restoring ancient monuments and undertaking massive afforestation drives, stand as a testament to our steadfast commitment to sustainable development,” LG Sinha said.
The Lieutenant Governor also emphasized the importance of active citizen participation in achieving the vision of a self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir and Viksit Bharat by 2047, while underlining the need for transparency and accountability in governance.
He congratulated the brave personnel of the J&K Police and CAPFs who were awarded gallantry medals on the eve of Independence Day and appreciated sportspersons for their outstanding achievements and contribution to the pride of Jammu and Kashmir.
LG Sinha urged citizens to renew their commitment to nation-building and serve the country with greater sincerity, dedication and vigour.(PTK)
