Public Urged to Ban Poplar Plantation Over Rising Allergy Concerns Among Children: Abid Pathan
Srinagar, May 09 (PTK): Concerns are mounting among residents over the increasing health issues linked to pollen released by poplar trees, with many citizens urging the authorities to take immediate preventive measures to safeguard public health.
Speaking to Press Trust of Kashmir (PTK), Abid Pathan, a sports and media personality, sports observer, manager at Amateur Cricket Club and manager of Mirza Gladiators, highlighted the growing health risks caused by poplar pollen, particularly among school-going children.
He said that while pollen naturally plays an important role in plant reproduction, it has become a major health concern for many residents, especially children suffering from severe seasonal allergies.
Abid Pathan stated that continuous exposure to pollen often results in breathing difficulties, throat irritation, allergies and other respiratory complications, adversely affecting daily life and academic activities of students.
He urged the government to take necessary measures towards banning further plantation of poplar trees and exploring safer alternatives in order to protect public health, particularly vulnerable groups such as children, elderly citizens and asthma patients.
He further stressed the need for timely environmental planning and strict implementation of regulations to minimise the health impact during the pollen season.(PTK)
