Srinagar Police Seals Six Medical Shops for Licence Violations, Expired Medicines

Srinagar, May 07 (PTK): Under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Srinagar Police, in collaboration with the Drug and Food Control Department, conducted a major inspection drive in Qamarwari and Safakadal areas to ensure strict compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and curb illegal practices.

During inspections in the Qamarwari area of Srinagar, five medical shops were found involved in serious violations including possession and sale of expired medicines, maintenance of invalid stock and non-compliance with regulations governing psychotropic substances. Acting swiftly, authorities sealed New MS Medicate, Majid Medicate, Kashif Medicate, Baitul Shifa Bund and Hamad Medicate, Qamarabad on the spot.

In a separate inspection in Safakadal, a medical shop operating under the name Azim Medicate at Malik Sahib was found functioning without a valid licence. During verification, officials discovered that nearly 90 percent of the medicines stocked at the shop had expired. The establishment was immediately sealed under relevant legal procedures.

Police said the action reflects the firm commitment of the department towards safeguarding public health and preventing misuse of pharmaceutical substances.

Further legal proceedings under relevant provisions of law have been initiated against the violators.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated its resolve to continue such enforcement drives across the district as part of the broader campaign against drug abuse and unlawful pharmaceutical practices.(PTK)
