KARNAH HOSTS RENOWNED CRICKET STAR MR YUSUF PATHAN

Press Trust of Kashmir | Kupwara : Karnah is a small valley between Shamasbari and Karanu series of mountains. It boasts of natural splendor comprising of high mountains, snowy peaks, forests, scattered houses and habitations on the slopes of mountainous ranges, Dhoks and Margs with favourable climatic conditions. This beautiful place in North Kashmir is well known for it’s people as well as tourism. Karnah boasts of talented youth across the spectrum, but most prominently the fervor for cricket among the NextGen is abundantly high.

To nurture the passion of cricket amongst the youth and provide a uplifting platform, Karnah Cricket Association in collaboration with the Indian Army has organized Unity Cricket Cup from 24 Aug 2021 at Chhamkote ground. Mr Yusuf Pathan graced the Karnah valley with his presence on 01 Sep 2021 where he witnessed the round robin league match between Ibkote Sultans and Sumbalpora. Every young aspiring cricketer in the audience was bubbling with enthusiasm and excitement. The humble cricket star took to the field and played from both sides to encourage and motivate the youth. He interacted with all the budding cricketers after the match to teach them few techniques of the game and motivate them to strive hard to achieve their goals in life. He further shared a few wonderful memories of his cricketing past to drive home the need to be focussed and work hard in the right direction for all the up-looking budding cricketers in the audience.

The passion and commitment exhibited by the young players to learn and improve was not only admired by the versatile cricketer but also by the august audience.

A total of 550 individuals formed part of the event. Mr Yusuf Pathan’s visit has left a lasting impact on the youth and has given a favorable impetus to the overall upliftment of sports in Karnah valley. The elderly of Karnah were extremely appreciative of the efforts of Karnah Cricket Association and Indian Army for having provided an inspiring platform for the next generation so that they can be weaned away from the bad influences. Efforts like these over the years will yield fruitful results in uplifting the youth and bringing peace and prosperity to the Karnah valley.(PTK).
