Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar : Lashing out at present New Delhi run administration in Kashmir for abhorrently leeching blood of common citizens, Senior Awami Itehad Party leader Sheeban Ashai raised strong objection towards looting locals at highway toll posts. He said, “Charging Exorbitant toll for locals travelling on the highway is a new tool for BJP lead LG administration to parastically rob common citizens. After rendering lakhs of Kashmiris jobless post despotic- unconstitutional abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A; literally bulldozing economy during Covid19, sucking blood of common citizens in the name of toll tax seems to have become a new modus operandi for BJP to usurp people of any money left in their pockets. Ashai strongly demanded LG Administration to revise rates for locals who have to traverse the highway on a daily basis. Charging Rs180 for a one side trip from Awantipora toll post especially for local citizens is beyond acceptable.

He added that highway and expressways are not only meant for blue eyed boys of Government’s but also for hardworking common citizens. Unceremoniously extorting money out already suffering bourgeois; working classes is beyond criminal, it seems there is a clandestine strategy to discourage locals from using the highway. At a time when inflation is at an all time high, prices of essential commodities; Petrol-diesel have crossed all previous records further pushing common man to the wall is a classic example of mephistophelian bestiality, anti-people politics. It seems Modi regime has taken a pledge to leave no stone unturned in turning a common man’s life to hell. Ashai strongly demanded LG administration to immediately pass orders revising all toll rates for common Kashmiris.(PTK).
