Tragedy Strikes Budgam as Young Girl Drowns in Nallah Shaliganga

Budgam, July 21: In a heart-wrenching incident, a minor girl tragically drowned in Nallah Shaliganga at Doodpathri area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday.

Officials have identified the victim as Aayat Maqbool, a seven-year-old daughter of Mohammad Maqbool from Burran Pattan. According to sources, the young girl accidentally slipped into the nallah, leading to the tragic incident.

Following the mishap, a swift rescue operation was initiated. Despite the efforts, the rescue team was only able to retrieve Aayat’s body later.

The local police have taken cognizance of the incident and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

This unfortunate event has cast a pall of gloom over the community, as residents and officials alike mourn the untimely loss of young Aayat.
