Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar :  Three militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba were killed in a gunfight in Pahoo village of Kakapora hamlet in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said on Sunday

A police official said acting on specific information generated by Police regarding presence of militants in village Pahoo a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police and RR in the said area.

“As the search party proceeded towards the suspected spot, hiding militants fired indiscriminately upon the search party which was retaliated leading to an encounter,” he said, adding that “in the ensuing encounter, three militants affiliated with LeT were killed.

He said that their identification is being ascertained and search operation is under way in the area.

Officials said that 63 militants including 17 non locals have been killed this year so far.:-PTK.
