Student Activist Safoora Zargar Granted bail by Delhi High court

SRINAGAR  JUNE(PTK) Safoora Zargar, a Jamia Millia University student and activist, has been granted bail on humanitarian grounds by the High court in Delhi.

Safoora, a 23-week pregnant student, was arrested in April in a case related to the Delhi violence, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act over the riots that broke out in Delhi in February during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Safoora’s arrest had sparked controversy as most of the student activist community claimed it to be the revengeful act by the government for opposing CAA and NRC.

The Delhi High Court directed Safoora Zargar to not get involved in activities that may hamper the investigation. She also cannot leave Delhi without permission.

In today’s judgment, the Delhi High Court has directed Safoora Zargar to not get involved in activities that may hamper the investigation.
