The cost of onions in Pakistan has soared to 320 rupees per kilogram, posing a challenge for consumers across the nation. The latest data from the Bureau of Statistics reveals varying prices in different cities, with Islamabad at 320 rupees, Rawalpindi at 310 rupees, and Sialkot at 270 rupees per kg.

 

However, some relief is observed in Karachi, Lahore, and Gujranwala, where the onion price stands at 240 rupees per kg. Despite this, the overall surge has sparked discussions about the factors contributing to this sharp increase.

 

As households grapple with the economic impact of rising onion prices, there is a growing call for transparent insights into the market dynamics driving this trend. The authorities and stakeholders are urged to explore measures that would stabilize onion prices and alleviate the financial burden on the general public.
