Provide sustenance allowance, announce moratorium on all kinds of loan installments for period of six months -AIP

Srinagar, August 18th(PTK): Awami Itehad Party today in a statement urged the LG administration to chalk out a long pronged strategy to ensure systemic smooth functioning across Jammu And Kashmir. Party demanded that Government of India must release at least thirty percent of budget allocated for Jammu and Kashmir for the period of 2020-2021 to ensure smooth functioning of all key departments and mitigating people’s problems.

Apart from ensuring PPE Kits and improving capabilities of medical facilities, it is a duty of present day Government to ensure  large scale testing is carried out across J&K at the earliest to ensure any further spread of Covid-19, before the window of opportunity closes on us. It is the need of the hour to adopt out of box ideas to deal with the pressing situation, there has already been great delay in distribution of free ration.

Now the administration should ensure at least that the stipulated timeline of ration distribution is strictly adhered to and assistance reaches needy without any further delay.

Party top brass on the occasion urged Modi lead Government to learn lessons from other countries and release at least thirty percent budget allocated for Jammu and Kashmir so that the Government could also provide a monthly allowance to its citizens.

Taking a lesson from Japan if even a meager sustenance allowance of Rs 10,000 per family in Kashmir division is granted to all irrespective of financial status that would cost the exchequer about only 900 crore Rupees,a month.

Government has ample funds and there is no need to adopt a miserly attitude, rather situation demands the Government to have a generous approach in removing all kinds of economic insecurities of people. 900 crores per division would not be a considerable burden on state budget of more than one lakh crores.

Moreover  greater availability of funds would allow LG lead administration to act freely in taking decisive decisions in larger public interest.

Party also urged the LG administration to also immediately announce a moratorium on all kinds of loan installments for a period of six months. Facing financial woes amongst Covid-19 fears and looming uncertainty is the last thing people of Kashmir want.

It the moral responsibility of present day Government to provide all kinds of assistive relief to people of Jammu and Kashmir, said Party Spokesperson Sheeban Ashai in a statement.
