President Murmu Awards Shaurya Chakra to Constable Safiullah Qadri Posthumously

New Delhi, July 5, 2024 – In a solemn ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Shaurya Chakra posthumously upon Selection Grade Constable Safiullah Qadri of the Jammu & Kashmir Police. The award recognizes his extraordinary bravery and dedication to duty.

In April 2022, Constable Qadri displayed unparalleled courage when he single-handedly confronted and eliminated two terrorists. This act of valor went beyond the call of duty, reflecting his commitment to safeguarding the nation.

Tragically, in a separate incident, Constable Qadri succumbed to terrorist bullets, making the ultimate sacrifice for his country. His bravery and selflessness continue to inspire and resonate with the nation.
