Police arrests drug peddler in Sopore, contraband substance recovered

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR August 10: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party led by SHO PS Panzalla under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Shri Ameen Bhat-JKPS established a checkpoint at Batpora Rohama and intercepted a person moving in suspicious circumstances. He has been identified as Irfan Ahmad Lone son of Muhammad Maqbool Lone resident of Charlipora Rohama Rafiabad in a suspicious manner. During checking, officers were able to recover 95gms of Charas like substance from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 49/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Panzalla and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are once again requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
