Police arrests 03 drug peddlers in Baramulla, Awantipora; contraband substances recovered
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR | SRINAGAR :March 13: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla & Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Baramulla, a police party led by SHO PS Pattan alongwith in-charge PP Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan during routine checking at Hyderbeigh Pattan intercepted two persons identified as Adil Mushtaq Bhat son of Mushtaq Ahmad and Mohammad Ashraf Zargar son of Gh Nabi Zargar both residents of Eidgah Colony Kreeri. During checking, officers were able to recover 145 grms of charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Similarly in Awantipora, officers from PP Reshipora at a checkpoint established at Ladermud Reshipora arrested one drug peddler identified as Mohd Ashraf Mir son of Mohd Ibrahim Mir resident of Bemina Srinagar and recovered 600 grms of grinded Cannabis from his possession.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigation set in motion.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.:-PTK.
