NIA planning fresh raids against Jamaat-e-Islami cadres in J&K next week
SRINAGAR, SEP 25 (PTK): In the ongoing probe against the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) group in a terror funding case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is planning another series of raids against its cadres in Jammu and Kashmir.
These raids took place on August 8 and 9 in Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama, Kulgam, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar and Rajouri districts in Jammu and Kashmir.
Highly placed sources in the NIA said that fresh searches would be conducted at the premises of JeI cadres and their supporters in Jammu and Kashmir sometime next week.
“These searches are being planned as the NIA investigator has got “some more clues” with respect to the case,” the official, requesting anonymity, said.
“We (NIA) have got new leads during the interrogation of more than a dozen JeI cadres and suspects belonging to the banned outfit,” the official said.
Another NIA official privy to the ongoing investigation in the case said that 10 JeI cadres and suspects were questioned at the agency headquarters here for over a week and more than five suspects are still being questioned.
The JEI suspects, who were questioned by NIA officials in the last few days, are from Ganderbal, Srinagar, Kupwara, Bandipora, Rajouri and Doda districts, the official said. (PTK)
