New Delhi, — The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Ajay Pratap Singh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) with the National Investigation Agency (NIA), along with two middlemen on Thursday, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh. The bribe was reportedly demanded to provide favors in an ongoing investigation.
The case surfaced when Rocky Yadav, the owner of Ramaiya Construction, lodged a complaint against Singh. Yadav alleged that Singh had been extorting money by threatening to falsely implicate his family in a case involving illegal weapons possession. According to Yadav, Singh initially demanded Rs 2.5 crore but agreed to an advance payment of Rs 25 lakh.
After receiving the complaint, the CBI laid a trap with NIA’s cooperation and arrested Singh and his accomplices in Patna on October 3. The bribe money was recovered during searches conducted in Gaya, Patna, and Varanasi.
Further investigations are underway.
