NCC Cadets of GCW Udhampur distribute National flag among households
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR UDHAMPUR AUGUST 14: The First J&K Girls Battalion NCC Srinagar, Government College for Women, Udhampur other day conducted door to door distribution of National flags to promote Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to mark the celebration of Independence week under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
This NCC unit of the college hosted a series of programmes starting from August 11th to invoke the spirit of nationalism among the people and pay respect to the national flag.

On the third day of the Independence week, NCC cadets presented national tricolour to every home and cadets urged the people to hoist the national flag atop their houses. They also helped the households to hoist the flag on top of their house. More than 30 cadets participated in this awareness drive with great enthusiasm.
The Principal of the college, Dr. Monika Sharma appreciated the cadets for paying a tribute to the Indian national flag by distributing it to different houses and communities. She also encouraged the cadets to participate in the celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence more enthusiastically.
The event was coordinated by ANO Prof Shallu Jasrotia. Prof Yash Kumar and Arti Gupta from the department of music also accompanied the Cadets in this drive.

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 14: As part of the “ Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign” under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, an inter-collegiate solo patriotic song competition was organized by Department of Music Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur, in collaboration with Department of History & Heritage Club.
The competition was organized under the supervision of the College Principal, Dr. Monika Sharma.
Dr. Monika Sharma highlighted the cause behind celebrating the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. She said that Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav was a Jan Mahotsav to bring the contribution of every section of society to the fore.
The Students from different colleges participated in the solo song competition and sang very beautiful patriotic songs to pay tributes to the freedom fighters of India.
The three best Singers of Solo Patriotic Song Competition included Sonia Verma of Semester 4th GCW Udhampur, Naseem Akhter of Sem 4th and Tammna Devi of Semester 2nd, respectively.
Earlier, HOD Music, Associate Prof. Dr. Seema Sharma gave a brief resume of the activities being carried out by the Department from time to time, especially related to the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign under the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav India@75. Prof. Yash Paul, Department of History, conducted the proceedings of the programme.
Assistant Prof. Sanjay Kumar and Assistant Prof. Yash Kumar both from the Department of Music acted as judges.
Among others, Dr. Mool Raj , Dr. Kewal Kumar, Prof Sumita Rao, Prof. Shallu Jasrotia, other senior faculty members, staff members and a large number of the students also attended the programme.
