Militant killed in ongoing Sopore encounter

Internet shut in the area, Train services suspended for the day

Press Trust of Kashmir | BARAMULLA : A militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter in PethSeer area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

One unidentified militant has been killed so far while aw operation is in progress, an official said.

He said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 52 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in PethSeer on Monday evening.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure authorities suspended mobile internet services in the area as a precautionary measures.

Train services between Budgam to Baramulla and vice versa have been also suspended for a day.(PTK).
