MeT Predicts More Rain, Drop in Temperatures, Possibility of Snowfall in Higher Reaches of J&K

Srinagar, August 29: The Meteorological Department has forecast a drop in day temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir, with a possibility of light snowfall over the isolated higher reaches tonight.
According to officials from the MeT Department, the region is expected to experience intermittent light to moderate rains and thundershowers, raising concerns over potential flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in some vulnerable areas.
“There is a possibility of intense showers for a brief period at a few places, with heavy rain at isolated locations tonight and into the early morning,” said the officials, emphasizing the need for caution in these regions.
The weather on August 29 is expected to remain cloudy, accompanied by light to moderate rain and thundershowers across most parts of the region. On August 30, scattered locations may witness spells of rain or thundershowers, while the weather is likely to remain generally dry with brief spells of rain at isolated spots from August 31 to September 1.
From September 2 to 3, the weather is anticipated to be mostly cloudy, with a likelihood of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places across the union territory.
Residents are advised to stay updated on weather conditions and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to natural calamities.
