Major Forest Fire Erupts In Kangan Ganderbal

GANDERBAL :  Fire has erupted in the Chatergul forest of Kangan, Ganderbal District, as reported by the Press Trust of Kashmir. The fire has spread across a considerable area, affecting compartments 8 and 9 in the central Kashmir region.

The intensity of the blaze is evident from the towering flames, visible from kilometers away. The absence of winter snowfall in Kashmir has exacerbated the situation, leading to a rise in forest fire incidents during the ongoing hot and dry weather.

In response to the emergency, the Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department has taken swift action, prohibiting entry into the forest during the high-risk hot and dry weather conditions. Forest Department officials have confirmed that their personnel are actively engaged in controlling the fire.
