LG Manoj Sinha Honours Women Achievers with Lal Ded National Award in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 19 (PTK): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday attended the Lal Ded National Award Ceremony in Srinagar, where eminent women achievers from different fields were honoured for their contributions to literature, culture, education and social service.

The prestigious award ceremony was organised by Sarhad.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said the blessings of saints like Lal Ded have nurtured and preserved the nation’s vision, arts, literature, music, folk traditions and spiritual wisdom.

He said women achievers honoured with the Lal Ded National Award have set new standards in their respective fields and helped shape the soul of society through their remarkable accomplishments.

“Women empowerment must remain a top priority for both society and government. We must also prioritise women in innovation and entrepreneurship so enterprises led by them become stronger,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

He observed that Lal Ded’s message of compassion, truth and morality remains highly relevant in today’s world and can serve as a guiding force for humanity seeking peace, inclusion and fraternity.

“Lal Ded’s life teaches society that no matter how great the challenge, a person’s inner strength, faith and courage can transform hardships into opportunities for growth and learning,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor further stated that Nari Shakti exemplifies sacrifice, compassion and equality and stressed that it is the solemn duty of society and the nation to secure full rights for women.

“I firmly believe that when women progress, families progress and when families progress, the nation progresses,” he added.

The Lal Ded National Award was conferred upon contemporary Kashmiri poet Bimla Raina, Sahitya Akademi Award-winning poet Naseem Shafaie, scholar and Rajbhasha expert Sakina Akhtar and Syed Darakhshan Andrabi.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to eminent writer, academician and translator Neerja Mattoo.

Among others present on the occasion were Vijaya Rahatkar, educationist Vijay Dhar, Sanjay Nahar, Sushma Nahar, senior officials, members of the Sarhad Foundation and prominent citizens from various walks of life.(PTK)
