LeT/TRF Outfit Associate Arrested, Arms & Ammo Recovered in Baramulla

Srinagar, Jul 02: Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with the army’s 46 Rashtriya Rifles, arrested a militant associate affiliated with the LeT/TRF outfit on Tuesday. The arrest took place in Baramulla district, as confirmed by a police spokesperson.

“Police, along with Army 46 RR, arrested a militant associate linked with the banned militant outfit LeT/TRF and recovered incriminating materials, arms, and ammunition from his possession at Eco Park Crossing, Baramulla,” the spokesperson stated in a press release issued to the Press Trust of Kashmir.

Acting on specific intelligence about militant movement in the Eco Park Crossing area, a joint patrol was launched by Baramulla Police and Army 46 RR. During the patrol, a suspicious individual was observed approaching the team on foot. Upon noticing the police and security forces, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the alert patrol team.

Preliminary questioning identified the suspect as Shakir Ahmad Lone, son of Ab Rashid, a resident of Dangerpora Sheeri. A personal search and subsequent disclosure led to the recovery of a pistol, a magazine, eight pistol rounds, and three hand grenades.

“The accused also revealed that he is in touch with a Pakistan-based militant handler and was planning to carry out a militant attack in Baramulla town,” the spokesperson added.

A case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act has been registered at the Baramulla police station, and an investigation is underway.
