Legal awareness programme for Leprosy inmates held in leprosy colony Lal bazar Srinagar by Kashmir law college

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR SRINAGAR OCT 14:- A legal education cum awareness programme for Lapro inmates was organized by kashmir law college in leprosy colony Lal bazar Srinagar through the Nai Bandhu Scheme, which is run by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
Numerous law students tool part in this programme, sharing their perspectives and understanding of the legal rights outlined in constitution as well as how they ought to and could exercise such rights.
People suffering from leprosy faced social stigmas and were helped by government of India as their expenses were beared by government of India and Dept of Health was the executing agency.

The colony is currently looked after by the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir. The department provides food, medicine and clothes to the patients. They also receive a monthly allowance from the social welfare department.
During programme people were awarded about all their legal rights and how to fight for their rights.
Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease and mainly affects the skin, peripheral nerves, mucosal surfaces of the upper respiratory tract and eyes. It can occur at all ages and is likely transmitted through droplets, from the nose and mouth, during close and frequent contact with untreated cases.
