Kulgam gunfight ends with the killing of two foreign militants
Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar : Two non-local militants were killed in a gunfight that erupted between militants and security forces in Mirgund area of Kulgam district.
A police official said that two Jaish militants killed in an overnight gunfight with security forces in Kulgam district of south Kashmir have been identified as Sultan Pathan and Zabiullah, both residents of Pakistan.
Officials said they were Categorised militants and was active since four years in Kulgam-Shopian areas.
The gunfight broke out on Saturday evening on a specific inputs regarding movement of militants in Mirhama area of Kulgam district after which a special joint team of Kulgam Police and Army’s 9RR laid searches in the area.
However, the militants hiding “indiscriminate firing towards the joint team,” the fire was effectively retaliated. However, in the initial firefight, Two Pakistanti JeM militants were killed.
Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 2 AK rifles, 7 AK magazines, 9 grenades were recovered from their possession,” said IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar.:-PTK.
