Kashmiri teacher selected for national award for innovative teaching
Srinagar August 25 (PTK) Kashmir based teacher, who uses play way method to teach her students has been selected for National Teachers Award 2020.
and has dedicated her award to her students and education department.
A government school teacher Roohi Sultana, hailing from Tailbal area of the city has been working in the education department from the past 11 years and is known for using her novel ideas while teaching students.
Roohi said that she has used low-cost things while teaching her students.
She is currently posted at Boys Middle School Kashipora Tailbal and is working on deputation to all the schools in the zone.
Roohi, 49, says that teaching with innovative methods is the need of the hour so that students could have all concepts cleared while teaching in the classroom.
Roohi says during Covid19 pandemic, she often visits the homes of students and encourages them to learn new things through creative ways.
“The form for the award was submitted by one of my friend’s and due to 2G internet, it was getting delayed and was finally submitted at the 11th hour,” she said.
She has completed her Masters in Urdu and Kashmiri languages, B.Ed (Bachelor of Education), and also three years degree course in calligraphy.
“Earlier we used to teach students in an imaginary way but in present time, teachers have to be more practical and innovative in order to make the teaching-learning process easier,” she said.
Roohi is among 47 teachers from across India to be selected for the Ministry of Education’s annual National awards to teachers.
The Ministry’s Department of School Education and Literacy released the final list of selected teachers for the prestigious award last week in which two were selected from the Jammu and Kashmir.(PTK)
