Kargam, Handwara resident decry drinking water

‘Allege employees posted there are demanding money for new water connections

Handwara, Sep 17(PTK): Inhabitants of Kargam in Handwara Wednesday complained the locality is without drinking water and the concerned department is watching as a mute spectator.

The aggrieved resident said they are decrying for the drinking water and the concerned departments are paying no attention towards it, adding that they are getting water from the Pohru scheme and the employees posted there are asking for money to get the connection from said water pipeline.

A local resident who requested not to be named said that the employees posted their area seeking money for installation illegal connection and those who are denying to give the money these connections are being disconnected by them.

They said in absence of drinking water, residents are being forced to fetch the water from nearby streams which are posing them threat to get infected with water-borne diseases.

A senior resident of the area said If the higher officials of the department were informed several times about the same but they paid no attention towards it.

Inhabitants have appealed to the higher officials to intervene in the matter at the earliest.

When contacted to Exon Jal Shakti Department division Handwara, he said within two days he will look into the matter and assured the issue faced by people will be redressed(PTK).
