Sheikh Shafat

Srinagarar Feb 20 (PTK) : Contractuals working in different colleges of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday hold press conference in Srinagar and demanded job security after colleges reopened in J&K on 15 February.

Jammu and Kashmir Contractual Teachers Association President, Dr. Fayaz Ahmad wani said that after 17 months colleges were supposed to reopen from 15th February 2021 in Union Territory J&K and candidates who were justifying their eligibility have got status quo from JK High Court but Commissioner Parvez Rohella and Director Colleges are defying all the court orders pleasantly to protect their skin.

He said that they are being biased for Kashmir Division giving the order to have classes alternatively and not in Jammu Division and all principals of Kashmir Division are harassing the candidates mentally at this time when candidates can earn a livelihood but they are forcing us to come on right roads.

We written to all Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir division besides Divisional Commissioner but to no avail.

“We the academic arrangement faculty of different colleges of Kashmir Division in general and your district in particular would like to draw your kind attention towards the fact that we have been working for the smooth functioning of the System from last 2 decades. We have always worked at par with the permanent faculty of the department. We have devoted the prime of our career to the department and have always regarded our services as worship. Despite the fact the department has never paid any attention to address our genuine

demands/grievances. The department is hell-bent to ruin the future of this highly qualified lot as most of the candidates working in the system have crossed the upper age limit or are at the verge of becoming highly qualified overage unemployed youth of the developed democracy. Every second day the

department is using all the means to mentally harass and humiliate the candidates, he said.

Witnessing this humiliation and sensing the job insecurity about 1000 thousand candidates working on academic arrangements moved to the honorable High Court of Jammu and Kashmir to secure their job and to their fortune honorable high court Srinagar Wing after analyzing the petitions issued Status Quo in their Favor, he further added.

The department was going well with the Status Quo of the candidates and was maintaining their position without disturbing them and released their salaries till July 2019 and in some cases till august 2019.

The honorable High Court from time to time issued directions to the department to release the salaries of the candidates and to the surprise the department never obeyed those orders which highlight the highhandedness of the Secretary Higher education Mr. Talat Parvez Roheela and his subordinates (Director Colleges, Nodal Principal Kashmir & Principal’s of Kashmir Division Colleges). The Honorable High Court also asked the department about an affidavit to confirm the stand of the department towards the court cases. In their response the Director Colleges along with all the Principals of the Degree Colleges acknowledged the Court Case and submitted the affidavit mentioning that they have not disturbed the position of the petitioners and are maintaining their Status Quo.But in reality they have made the contempt of the Honorable court and disturbed the position of faculty working on court orders. They are trying to treat us as daily rated labors and will call us at their convenience, he further added.

“As 15-02-2021 is a landmark in the educational field of the country because from this date government of India decided to go for physical classes after almost one year of the deadliest pandemic and as we approached the

colleges to resume our work after winter vacations, the principals denied us the

work and did not entertained our presence in the colleges and harassed us mentioning that we have verbal orders from the higher ups to not allow you People to resume your duties, which results in the utmost humiliation and harassment of the faculty. By doing this Principal’s of the colleges overreached their authority and rejected the orders of the Honorable High Court and

maligned the image and stature of Judiciary in the eyes of common people, he further added

They requested higher ups to look into the matter and save carriers of those people who have been serving this department since a decade. (PTK)
