Jamaat-e-Islami Must Apologize for Militant Past Before Seeking Votes: Tarigami

Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, a senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), has strongly criticized the Jamaat-e-Islami for its involvement in militancy in Kashmir. Tarigami said that Jamaat-e-Islami played a leading role in promoting militancy in the region, which resulted in numerous killings. He emphasized that the group cannot simply whitewash its violent history.

“Jamaat-e-Islami must acknowledge its past wrongdoings and apologize to the people of Kashmir before seeking their votes,” Tarigami asserted. He insisted that the group must take responsibility for its actions during the period of unrest, as it had a direct role in encouraging violence and bloodshed.

His remarks come ahead of political campaigns in Kashmir, where accountability and transparency are becoming central demands from the public.
