Jal Shakti Abhiyan- Cleaning drive of Bhramsari Nar conducted by 34 AR along with locals government officials and the local population

Press Trust of Kashmir | Ganderbal : Bhramsari Nar is one of the prominent tributary of Sind river and it originates from Mahalesh and Harmukh mountains and passes through Chattargul village.
Locals said that the clear crystal water of the Bhramsari is now contaminated due to large deposition of plastics and garbages.
They said that Piling of cowdung and garbages in the stream and banks is not only deteriorating the quality of water but also affecting the flow of water into the main Sindh River.
34 Assam Rifles along with local administration Kangan, and the people of Chattergul A, B and C took an initiative to clean the waterbody under “Jal Shakti Abhiyan : Catch the Rain” (JSA:CTR) with local people of Chattargul village from 10AM to 2PM on 7 July.
Troops from Assam Rifles, BDO Kangan, Sarpanch and panch of Chattargul A, B and C panchayat, and other govt dept of Kangan also joined the cleaning drive along with local people.
The programme began with prominent people and maulvis speaking and a pledge ceremony and National Anthem. On the occasion the mission, aimed to spread awareness of prudent management and evoke our responsibility towards nature was lauded by the Maulvis and locals alike.
Conservation of the sanctity of these natural water bodies is essential in order to prevent depletion, hence Assam Rifles is taking initiative with local people to clean Bhramsari Nar initially and then move on to the other water bodies.(PTK).
