J&K Police Seizes 3.265 Kg Charas in Anantnag; Two NDPS Cases Registered

Anantnag, May 24 (PTK): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have achieved a major success against drug trafficking in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district by registering two separate NDPS cases and recovering over 3.2 kilograms of charas-like contraband substance.

According to police, during routine naka checking at Rakh Nowbug, a team from Police Station Bijbehara apprehended a suspected drug peddler identified as Umar Rasheed Ganie son of Abdul Rasheed Ganie of Nowbug Bijbehara.

During his personal search, police recovered approximately 295 grams of charas powder-like substance from his possession.

In another operation, acting on specific information, a police party from Police Post Sangam conducted a search at the residence of Bashir Ahmad Dar son of Amma Dar resident of Natipora.

During the search operation, police recovered nearly 2.970 kilograms of charas powder-like contraband substance from the residential premises.

Police said that cases under relevant sections of the NDPS Act have been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigations have been initiated in both matters.

Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated its commitment towards eradicating the drug menace and appealed to the public to share information regarding narcotics-related activities in their respective areas.(PTK)
