Investigation Launched Into Custodial Death in Jammu; Two Cops Suspended

JAMMU: In response to a suspect’s death in police custody, the Jammu district police has taken swift action, suspending two officials and attaching the Station House Officer (SHO) of Gandhi Nagar police station to District Police Lines (DPL). Sahil Saini, a resident of Nagri area in Kathua district, was arrested on January 30 in connection with a theft case and was found dead under suspicious circumstances the following day.

 

The district magistrate of Jammu has been requested to initiate a magisterial inquiry into the incident, highlighting the authorities’ commitment to a thorough and transparent investigation. The suspended officials are now subject to scrutiny as part of the ongoing inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Sahil Saini’s death.

 

In adherence to standard protocol, the deceased’s body has been transferred to Government Medical College, Jammu. A request has been made to constitute a board of doctors to conduct an autopsy in the presence of a first-class executive magistrate, aiming to determine the precise cause of death.
