Increase honorarium to councillors/corporators:- Sheikh Imran to Governor

Sarinagar March, 15 (PTK) Former deputy mayor and councillor Nishat ward on Monday dispatched a letter to LG Manoj Sinha and asked him to increase honorarium to Councillors and corporators

“Your intervention is requested to kindly direct the concerned oflicer to ensure that honorarium
of Councillors/ Corporators of smc and urban local bodies should be increased from 10000/ to the reconsidered honorarium of DDC’s as most of councillors/ corporators have dedicated
themselves with politics and have no other avenue of earning except for this honorarium, reads the letter

/”Furthermore the lower the honorarium the more & higher are the chances of corruption which
ultimately is nuisance to our people and city therefore you are requested to consider the same at the earliest along with more or equivalent protocol with dozen, it further adds.

” I am sure that your good self will appreciate that we councillors/ Corporators of sme and urban
local bodies have never protested nor will be protest in future for honorarium or protocol as we
believe in peaceful negotiations with appreciations,” It adds.

“It’s pertinent to mention here that we have contested elections against life threatening boycott
calls when even the local regionai parties boycotted municipal elections and we stood like a rock
for national integration and truly we believed in the meaning of serving humanity by dedicating
our self to local regional politics unlike DDC members therefore our honorarium and protocol should be equivalent or more than DDC members, it adds further

Your earliest appropriate action will be highly appreciated as it’s pureiy in the interest of elected
public representative’s ans ultimately in the interest ofy public, it adds. (PTK)
