Heavy to Very Heavy Snowfall Forecasted to Persist in Jammu and Kashmir for Next 24 Hours
As winter maintains its grip over the picturesque landscapes of Jammu and Kashmir, heavy to very heavy snowfall is forecasted to persist for another 24 hours in the region’s higher reaches. Areas including Sonamarg, Gulmarg, Gurez, Zojila Pass, Sinthan Pass, Peer ki Gali, and Razdan Pass are expected to bear the brunt of this wintry onslaught, with snow accumulation reaching an astonishing 6-7 feet by tomorrow evening.
In addition to the mountainous terrain, moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated across most plains, with the possibility of snowfall even in the lower-lying areas of Kashmir during the next day. The night and early morning hours hold the highest likelihood of snowfall over the Kashmir plains, painting the landscape in a serene white cloak.
Meanwhile, the plains of Jammu are bracing for moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thundershowers, lightning, and thunderstorms in some parts during the aforementioned period.
As nature unleashes its wintry fury, residents and authorities are urged to exercise caution and preparedness, ensuring safety measures are in place to mitigate any potential disruptions caused by the inclement weather conditions.
