Gunfight erupts in South Kashmir’s Pulwama

SRINAGAR Jan 29 (PTK) : An encounter between militants and security forces has erupted in Lelhar village of Kakapora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district after long continuous siege that was launched today.

 

As per reports, militants fired bullets on government forces early this evening when government forces after conducting searches in rest of the area came near to the spot where militants were hiding. The forces responded to militants in a same way leading to an encounter.

 

Government forces that include 50 Rastriya Rifles of Indian army, CRPF of para-military forces and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police had launched a search operation in the village today morning after receiving specific inputs about presence of some militants in the area. Since afternoon the search operation was peacefully on in the village however turned into a gunfight this evening.

 

As per some reports pouring in to PTK, two militants are trapped in the area

 

When this report was filed, intensive exchange of gunfire was on in the village.

 

Pertinently, three militants were killed in Mandoora Tral encounter. (PTK)
