Food Safety Team Anantnag Intensifies Market Inspections Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha

Anantnag, May 19 (PTK): The Food Safety Department Anantnag on Monday conducted intensified inspections of food establishments across various markets of Anantnag district ahead of Eid al-Adha to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for consumers during the festive season.

The inspection drive focused on establishments dealing in bakery products, milk and milk products, meat and meat products, besides fruits and vegetables. The initiative was launched to safeguard public health and ensure strict compliance with food safety standards.

During the inspections, bakery establishments were thoroughly checked and directed to strictly follow Schedule IV provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, which lays down hygiene and sanitary requirements for food business operators.

Officials also procured samples of various food items during the drive for detailed laboratory analysis to assess their quality and safety standards.

Meanwhile, 32 cases of ice cream carrying labelling violations were seized from S.S. Enterprises during the inspection process.

The authorities urged food business operators to strictly comply with food safety regulations in letter and spirit to ensure consumer safety.

The general public was also advised to carefully check food package labels before purchasing products for consumption during the festive period.(PTK)
