Election Commission Announces Schedule for First Phase of Lok Sabha Elections

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission of India has set the stage for the much-anticipated Lok Sabha elections with the issuance of the notification for the first phase scheduled for April 19.

In a comprehensive notification, the Election Commission outlined the crucial dates for various states and Union Territories. March 28 marks the deadline for filing nominations in Bihar, while March 27 is the cutoff for states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and others. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on March 30 for most states, with the final date for withdrawal of candidatures set for April 2 in Bihar and March 30 for others.

This phase will witness elections in 102 Lok Sabha seats across 17 states and four Union Territories. Among the notable constituencies are Tamil Nadu with 39 seats, Rajasthan with 12, Uttar Pradesh with 8, and Madhya Pradesh with 6 seats up for grabs.

In addition to these, seats in Uttarakhand, Assam, Maharashtra, and other states will see polling on April 19, contributing to the democratic process that shapes the nation’s leadership.

The Election Commission’s announcement of the election schedule on March 16 has set the nation abuzz with anticipation. With polling scheduled in seven phases spanning from April 19 to June 1, all eyes are on the final vote count slated for June 4.
